What is Mentorship Programme and how does it work?
- It is a collaborative initiative between Office of Alumni Relations & Advancement (OARA) and UBD Centre of Networking, Employment & Career Training (UBDCoNECT)
- It is a 6 months programme (September - February)
- Mentors are matched with mentees according to agreed-on objectives set by mentors & mentees
- Communications between mentors and mentees either face-to-face or online
- There will be progress checkpoint to look into the struggles or difficulties both parties may faced.
What’s in it for me by joining as a mentor? / What is the benefits of becoming a mentor?
- Gain insight from an external perspective regarding mentor’s own business or profession
- Expansion of networks, leading to obtaining new contacts and exchange of fresh ideas
What should I do as a mentor?
- In short, be a guidance to our students
- Identify goals and objectives with mentees
- Address mentees challenges by providing networking opportunities and job shadowing
- Discuss interpersonal skills
- Provide oral and written feedback. This can be reviewed during Progress Checkpoint
